INTENSE SEQUEL DELTA FORCE®: Xtreme 2 NOW AVAILABLE FROM NOVALOGIC
TIME TO LOCK ‘N LOAD!

INTENSE SEQUEL DELTA FORCE®: Xtreme 2

NOW AVAILABLE FROM NOVALOGIC!

AGOURA HILLS,Calif. – May 26, 2009 – The world’s most deadly fighting force is back in all-new multiplayer combat, as action game developer and publisher NovaLogic announced today the release of Delta Force®: Xtreme 2 (DFX2)game for the PC. The sequel to the bestselling Delta Force: Xtreme is supported by the NovaWorld Community, a multiplayer network that provides smoother, faster and seamless gameplay for up to 150* players per game. With 10single-player missions and nine co-op missions within two campaigns, playersimmerse themselves into the Delta Force experience by battling enemies in Asia. Now available for download from www.novalogic.com, Valve, Direct2Drive and RealNetworks and at retail locations nationwide, DFX2 carries the recession busting price of just $29.99 (MSRP).

“We listened to the fans of the original Delta Force: Xtreme and created an amazing multiplayer world filled with the features they asked formost; intense gameplay, game balancing and an all-around FUN experience,”commented Michael Domaguing, NovaLogic’s director of marketing. “Teamwork is key to being successful in DFX2 and we give you all the tools to make this a great party game, no matter where you are in the world, fromMilwaukee to the Middle East.”

DFX2 offers intense military gameplay in stunning 1080p “Full HD” and Dolby 7.1 Surround sound, and with game servers placed strategically around the world, the NovaWorld Community provides the gameplay that fans demand. Featuring 20content-rich multiplayer maps, DFX2 supports five of the most popular game types: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Team King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, and Flagball. Each detailed map will have something for everyone, from large, vehicle heavy battlefields to small, intense engagement zones. In addition to the feature-loaded multiplayer experience, gamers of all skill levels can mix it up in two heart-pounding single-player or co-operative campaigns where players assume the role of a Delta Force operator sent to Asia to bring a drug cartel and former Soviet mercenaries to justice.

The NovaWorld Community allows every element of the gameplay, from the enhanced ballistics to the innovative in-vehicle spawn system, to be carefully coordinated to support a fully balanced experience where teamwork is deadlier than individual firepower, and in DFX2, intelligence and creativity are rewarded as much as fast-twitch reflexes. The game also ships with a powerful MED level editor, which will allow gamers full utilization of game assets to create their own levels, including additional multiplayer game types.

April Fools Day Worm Coming!
Now in its third variant, Conflicker C, the worm has grown incredibly complicated, powerful, and unfortunately no one knows when exactly this worm will show its face.

This new variant is due to release a wrath of pain amongst many computer users. The first version of this worm, also known as the Downadup (A), first made its way on the internet and into more than 9 million computers world wide, back in January 2009.

What does the Conflicker worm do?

According to Symantec (Norton Antivirus) - the Downadup worm mostly spreads across networks. If it finds a vulnerable computer, it turns off the automatic backup service, deletes previous restore points, disables many security services, blocks access to a number of security web sites and opens infected machines to receive additional programs from the malware’s creator. The worm then tries to spread itself to other computers on the same network.

Who is at risk?

Users with computers that are not configured to receive patches and updates from Microsoft and who are not running an up to date antivirus product.

What to do if you are infected

Use your Norton product to identify which variant of the worm is on your computer.
Follow the detailed removal instructions for the specific version of the worm below.

W32.Downadup.A writeup
W32.Downadup.B writeup
W32.Downadup.C writeup

How to Stay Safe

Run a sound and trusted security suit
Make sure your computer has the latest patches (You should have this set automatically)
Avoid using security scans from unknown websites
Turn off autorun feature that automatically launches programs
Change your passwords every 3 months and mix it up with numbers and characters and it should be at least 7 characters long

April Fools Day is around the corner, start preparing today!

Rogue Antivirus on the Rise
Rogue Antivirus on the Rise

These cyber criminals try to fool users by executing exaggerated reports of threats on the computer. The user is then prompted to pay for a full license of the application in order to remove the threats.

According to the Antiphishing Working Group, the number of fake security programs skyrocketed from average of around 2,500 per month to 9,287 in December. The group’s latest report, covering the second half of 2008, says that while rogue AV has been around for years, it wasn’t until the middle of last year that crooks starting turning the fake apps into a serious money-making machine.

The Washington Post’s Security Fix recently showed that dirty affiliates who help spread the junk apps can earn more than $330,000 a month in commissions. Maybe crime doesn’t pay, but it seems that crimeware just might.

Here are several rogue programs finding there way into users pockets:

Antivirus2009
AntiVirusXP2008
SpySheriff
WiniGuard
TheRegistrySentinel
VirusRemover2008
VirusDoctor
WinFixer
Ultimate Defender
MalwareWipe
DriveCleaner
AVSystemCare
1stAntiVirus
VirusBurst
SpywareQuake
AntispywareSoldier

Here are some recent articles about Misleading Applications, also known as Rogue Software:

Only purchase Antivirus programs from trusted sources listed below:

Symantec, TrendMicro, McAfee, Computer Associates, Avast, AVG, or Kaspersky

It’s also important to see what others are saying about the product by visiting sites like CNet.com and checking reviews.

Predator~IKU Obit Notice ( c/p from Kitten)
I just learned that Predator~IKU is no longer with us. Here is the post that was made in the IKU forums.

I am Sad to Announce that one of IKU's oldest members, councilmember and a person i am proud to call my friend, Curtis Cheeks, AKA Predator~IKU died suddenly Last friday. I will truly miss him.

Born August 9, 1972
Died February 13, 2009

Predator was a long time friend of mine for 9 years. He joined the KATZ squad when I started it way back when and had been a member for 4 years. It is going to take awhile for me to accept this. Many late nights, Pred, I and a few other players would stay up late late night and have a blast in the servers. He helped hold the Katz Squad together for those 4 years. I would like to ask everyone to please say a prayer for him, for Pred, One of my best friends. Pred, you will be greatly missed and always remembered and in my heart.

We at the Combat-Arena Both Jinks and myself have played along side Predator for many years. He was a friend and a damm good player. Many a night were spent in his company He will be greatly missed by all. I wish his family well during these rough times.

An old FRIEND returns

Some of you will remember the good ole days of DF1 and DF2.
Well there was a gaming site called DFWorld that was real big back then, and anyone and everyone would camp out there in the forums, tourneys or just got on Roger Wilco ( LMAO ) and chatted for hours.
Well Francis of DFWorld from those days is bringing DFWorld back to DF gaming.
Stop by and give them a shout. Talk about the old days or just say hello.
